Elena Bashkirova studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatorium, Moscow with her father, the famous pianist and teacher Dmitri Bashkirov.
She is actively engaged with both the classic-romantic repertoire and the music of the 20th century. She is a regular guest with renowned orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, the NDR Sinfonieorchester, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Orchestre de Paris and the Chicago Symphony. The conductors with whom she has worked include Sergiu Celibidache, Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta, Christoph von Dohnányi, Christoph Eschenbach, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, David Robertson und Michael Gielen.
In addition, Elena Bashkirova is a popular and regular guest at international festivals, such as the Ruhr Piano Festival and the Verbier Festival. In 1998 she founded the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival in Jerusalem. The festival has become a pillar of cultural life in Israel. Since 2012, a “sister festival” also takes place each year in April at the Jewish Museum Berlin, which has been received with great enthusiasm and acclaim.
